About this trip
Stretching alongside east coast of Adriatic Sea not many visitors realize that Croatia has one of the most versatile landscapes in Europa. It is most famous for its islands, clear blue sea, summer tourism and Mediterranean legacy but out of eight national parks only three are dominantly part of the coastal area. The rest is hidden inside and this program will allow you to discover some of its mountain regions with combination of Adriatic. This is the itinerary for those who like to feel a little more nature, hike for few hours to reach the best views and finish the day in small guest houses and family hotels.
We’ll start our trip in capital Zagreb, get the know mountain Medvednica, popular excursion site for its citizens before we head to the central part of Croatia in land of forests, rivers, lakes and peaks where we’ll be reworded with unforgettable sights. Our trip will take us to Kornati Islands, high cascades on River Krka and in the end to the unique Plitvice Lakes national park.
Diverse landscapes, moderate activity combined with discrete and comfortable accommodation and hospitable people will make this trip once in a life time experience.
Type of the travel:
- Classical trip which doesn’t demand special preparations and is mostly orientated on sightseeing of historical monuments and natural beauties without long walking distances. Occasional early starts in the morning and late evenings with longer and heavier days caused by long drives and intensive itinerary.
Itinerary
Day 1: Zagreb D
After the arrival at the airport transfer to a hotel, early dinner and evening visit of Zagreb, capital and the biggest town of Croatia. The first recorded appearance of its name dates back to 1094. With centuries of colorful influences by Hungary and Austria discover why tourist sometimes refers to it as a “small Vienna”.
Day 2: Zagreb-Zadar B
After breakfast we will do the sightseeing of Zadar the city for which Alfred Hitchcock said it has the most beautiful sunset in the world. For few hours we’ll enjoy the beautiful walk along the peninsula of the old part of the town. Like many other cities in Croatia, Zadar was changing rulers from Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Austrians and French among others and had yet maintained strong influence of Croatian artists through all that time. Relax sitting by the sea and listening to the concert of the Sea Organs whose soft melody is produced by the waves themselves. The town is also world know by the unique Greeting to the Sun which is located on the town’s promenade next to the Sea Organs.In the afternoon will have free time for shopping or to rest and enjoy the beautiful Adriatic Sea at our resort. Day 3: Zadar-NP Plitvice Lakes-Zadar B
We depart Zadar after breakfast and take o two hour drive in the mountain region of Croatia. Just a short drive from there are Plitvice Lakes National Park – UNESCO World Natural Heritage – sixteen lakes interconnected with waterfalls that were created by deposition of special kind of limestone, nature taking the role of an artist and presenting us one of its wonders. We’ll spend the day in an easy walk and a boat drive on one of the lakes.Drive to coastal town of Zadar. Overnight
Day 4: Zadar-NP Kornati Islands – Zadar B
After breakfast we will have excursion of Kornati islands. A splendid day on the sea, an unforgettable excursion! Archipelago with its 150 uninhabited islands, islets and reefs is the most indented island group in the Mediterranean. We will sail by boat from one island to another all the way to a bay of extraordinary beauty. It is a paradise for those who know how to enjoy the pure form of fascinating crystal sea. On board you will be served a lunch, including wine or juice. Departure from the Marina Borik departure situated only 10 minutes walk from our Hotel.
Day 6: Zadar-NP Krka – Zadar B
Easy day with morning walk from Skradin to biggest waterfall cascades in Croatia – Skradinski Buk. Its formations ware used to build second hydro plant in the world in 1895, just a few days after hydro plant on Niagara Falls. Beauty and historical richness of Krka River and its area make it “the place to visit” for every guest. Optional visit to old town Šibenik. Return and overnight in Zadar.
Day 7: Zadar B
Free day for some optional excursion, enjoying the beach or just relaxing in a hotel
